Prof. Sang Joon Lee
POSTECH, South Korea
Title: Development of various biomimetic technologies inspired by bio-fluid flows in nature
Prof. Lee received his Ph.D. degree from the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at the KAIST in 1986. He joined POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) as a faculty member on January, 1897. He is an international leader in bio-fluid flows, water treatment, biomimicry and experimental fluid dynamics. He was elected as an APS (American Physics Society) fellow, for his contribution to experimental fluid mechanics, development of advanced flow visualization techniques and their applications to bio-fluid flows, micro/nano-fluidics and nature-inspired technologies. Prof. Lee’s achievement was recognized by the National Medal of Science (2017) and he was elected to be the POSTECH University Professor on 2017. He has served as the president of several academic societies and chairman of several conferences and workshops. He is working as director of BBRC (Center for Biofluid and Biomimic Research), sponsored by National Research Foundation, Korea.
Prof. Surya R. Kalidindi

Title: Bayesian Digital Twin Framework for Accelerating Advanced Materials-Manufacturing Innovation
Surya Kalidindi is a Regents Professor and Rae S. and Frank H. Neely Chair Professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering with joint appointments in the School of Computational Science and Engineering and the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia, USA. Surya’s research efforts have made seminal contributions to the fields of crystal plasticity, microstructure design, highthroughput mechanical characterization and materials informatics. Surya has been elected a Fellow of ASM International, TMS, and ASME. He has also been recognized with the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award, the Vannever Bush Faculty Fellow, and the Khan International Award. He has authored/co-authored 2 books, 8 book chapters, 2 edited volumes, and over 400 archival journal articles. His research currently has a h-index of 101 (as per Google Scholar). Most recently, he has co-founded the new venture-funded start-up Multiscale Technologies, Inc., which offers a commercial SaaS platform for Al/ML driven accelerated innovation in advanced materials and manufacturing domains.
Prof. Iwona M. Jasiuk

Dr. Iwona Jasiuk is a Richard W. Kritzer Faculty Scholar Professor in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering and a Health Innovation Professor in the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Also, she is an affiliate faculty member of the departments of Bioengineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as several interdisciplinary centers. Her research addresses the design, multiscale modeling, and characterization of materials, including biological and bioinspired materials, polymers, composites, and alloys. Finally, she served as the site director of the NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center on Novel High Voltage/Temperature Materials and Structures (2014-2020). Dr. Jasiuk is a fellow of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Engineering Science. She authored and co-authored nearly 200 refereed journal papers and advised nearly 50 graduate students. Her H-index is 59.
Prof. Kyriakos Komvopoulos

Title: Reimagining Deformation: Microarchitectures that Produce Auxetic Mechanical Behavior
Kyriakos Komvopoulos is a Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the founder and director of the Surface Sciences and Engineering Laboratory and the Computational Surface Mechanics Laboratory. He also serves as a Faculty Scientist in the Materials Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and as a Principal Investigator at the Center for Information Technology in the Interest of Society and The Berkeley Stem Cell Center. Professor Komvopoulos is internationally recognized for pioneering contributions to surface nanoscience and nanoengineering, with broad impact on technologies spanning communications, microelectronics, information storage, and biotechnology. His current research includes nano/micro scale contact mechanics, tribology, ultrathin film mechanics and characterization, plasma assisted surface modification of biopolymers, fibrous scaffolds for tissue engineering, and flexible/stretchable bioelectronics.
Prof. Ivan Giorgio

Title: Mathematically-Driven Design of Curved-Rod Lattice Shell Metamaterials with Prescribed Mechanical Behavior
Prof. Ivan Giorgio received his cum laude degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 2004, and his Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the same institution in 2008. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Civil, Construction-Architectural and Environmental Engineering (DICEAA) of the University of L'Aquila, where he serves as Director of the International Research Center for Mathematics & Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS) for the term 2024–2028, and as Scientific Coordinator of the M&MoCS Laboratory of Materials and Structures Testing. His research is focused on the mechanics of complex and structured materials, with particular emphasis on higher-gradient continua, pantographic metamaterials, bio-inspired hierarchical structures, and piezo-electromechanical systems. His work has contributed to the theoretical foundations and experimental validation of generalized continuum models, with applications ranging from advanced metamaterial design to bone remodeling and tissue engineering. Prof. Giorgio has authored and co-authored numerous papers in leading journals including Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, Continuum Mechanics and Thermodynamics, and the International Journal of Solids and Structures. He has also contributed to major edited volumes published by Springer International Publishing, including Developments and Novel Approaches in Nonlinear Solid Body Mechanics (2020) and Theoretical Analyses, Computations, and Experiments of Multiscale Materials (2022). His research has garnered over 7,700 citations, with a H-index of 55, placing him among the top researchers in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in Italy.
Prof. Jorge Ambrósio

Advances in Computational Multibody Dynamics and Their Impact on Design and Analysis of Mechanical Engineering Machines and Mechanisms

Prof. Jorge A.C. Ambrósio, having received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Arizona in 1991, he is currently Full Professor and head of the Structural and Computational Mechanics group at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico at the University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is the author of more than 300 publications, including several books and a large number of papers in international journals in the areas of Multibody Dynamics, Flexible Multibody Dynamics, Structural Mechanics, Vehicle Dynamics, Crashworthiness and Biomechanics. His current SCOPUS h-index is over 50 with more than 8000 citations. He was the advisor of more than 30 PhD students and a large number of MSc students, being the responsible for the creation of diverse courses in Mechanical Systems, Vehicle Dynamics and Biomechanics in which the computational core is Multibody Dynamics. He has been the responsible of several national and international projects in railway dynamics, biomechanics and passive safety. Currently he is the Editor-in-Chief of Multibody System Dynamics, for which is is the co-founder, and member of the editorial boards of several international journals.
Prof. Jiwang Yan

Title: Advances in Ultraprecision Machining of Freeform Optics with Fast Tool Servo Technologies
Jiwang Yan received his Ph.D. from Tohoku University, Japan, in 2000. He is currently a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Keio University (since 2012), where he leads the Laboratory for Precision Machining and Nano-Processing. His research interests include ultraprecision machining, micro- and nano-manufacturing, laser processing, and sustainable manufacturing. He has been serving on the Board of Directors of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering as Chair of the Publication Committee (2022–2026), and on the Board of Directors of the Japan Society of Laser Technology (since 2022). He currently serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Materials Processing Technology and as a member of the editorial boards of several other international journals. He is an elected Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and the International Society of Nanomanufacturing (ISNM). He is also a Foreign Fellow of the Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ).
Prof. Zhuming Bi

Title: Human-Cyber-Physical-Systems (HCPSs) in Evolutional Journey of Mechatronics
Zhuming Bi is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University Fort Wayne and holds the Harris Chair in Wireless Communications and Applied Research. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) and served as the 2023–2024 Fulbright–Nokia Distinguished Chair in Information and Communications Technologies. Dr. Bi has more than 35 years of research and teaching experience at academic, research, and industrial institutions worldwide. He began his academic career as an Associate Professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (1994–1998). He subsequently conducted guest research at City University of Hong Kong (1997–1998), Nanyang Technological University (2001), and Simon Fraser University (2002). His professional experience also includes roles as a Research Officer at the National Institute for Integrated Manufacturing, Canada (2003–2007); Project Manager at the Northern Ireland Technology Centre (NITC), United Kingdom (2008); and Senior Manufacturing Engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA (2016). Dr. Bi has published more than 10 books and 216 peer-reviewed journal articles and has an H-index of 55 according to Google Scholar.
He is the lead or sole author of several influential books, including:

Dr. Bi will deliver a talk titled “Human–Cyber–Physical Systems (HCPSs) in the Evolutionary Journey of Mechanics.” The presentation will begin with an overview of the historical development of Mechatronics, followed by a new perspective that frames Mechatronics as both a fundamental engineering philosophy and a set of innovative methodologies for the design and operation of complex multidisciplinary systems.
The talk will discuss the main characteristics, design principles, and evolutionary trajectory of Mechatronics, and will introduce the concept of Human–Cyber–Physical Systems (HCPSs). Special emphasis will be placed on the opportunities, innovations, and challenges associated with advancing Mechatronics in the digital era, highlighting the critical role of human integration in next-generation intelligent systems.
Prof. Jan Awrejcewicz
The Lodz University of Technology, Poland
Title: Regular and Chaotic Dynamics of Mechanical Systems in Magneto-Electric Fields
Jan Awrejcewicz (https://abm.p.lodz.pl/en/jan‐awrejcewicz), from the beginning of his scientific career, was associated with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lodz University of Technology. He became a full Professor in 1994 and in 1998 he founded and chaired the Department of Automation, Biomechanics and Mechatronics while in the years 1998-2022 he was the head of doctoral studies in Mechanics. In 2013-2017 he worked at the Warsaw University of Technology. He supervised 35 Ph.D. Theses. He is a real member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2021-) and European Academy of Sciences and Arts (2021-).

He is the author/co-author of 58 monographs (including 30 in English), 2 textbooks and 1072 scientific articles (740 journals papers and 332 chapters in books). He was an editor of 36 books, editor of both 44 special issues of journals and 23 conference proceedings.

His scientific achievements include: analysis of dynamical systems using asymptotic and numerical methods (continuous and discrete systems), nonlinear dynamics of mechanical and mechatronic systems with friction and impacts, thermo-elasticity and tribology, as well as engineering biomechanics. His work focuses mainly on mechanical engineering/mechanics and applied mathematics. For his scientific achievements, he was twice honored with the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation award.

He served as a Keynote Speaker at 87 conferences and gave over 70 seminars at renowned universities abroad. Jan Awrejcewicz is also a Doctor Honoris Causa of 7 universities. In total, he worked for 10 years at renowned universities abroad, supported by the A. Humboldt Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation, the Japanese Science Promotion Society and Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (Tokyo, Japan), and 3 French grants.

He was the organizer/chairman of 22 international conferences: ‘Dynamical Systems - Theory and Applications’ in Lodz, Poland (16; 1992-2021), ’International Conference of the Polish Society of Biomechanics’ in Lodz (2014), ‘Mechatronics: Ideas for Industrial Application’: Warsaw (2012), Lodz (2014), Gdansk (2015), ‘Biomechanics - Modeling, Numerical Simulations, Experimental Investigations and Biomedical Applications’, Lodz (1998), ’Nonlinearity, Bifurcation and Chaos.
